Quartier Q-Plus and Zero Magnum colour resistance to direct sunlight

 

Day 1, 2nd October 2024

Initial test pieces are placed in a south facing window. Double glazed but without any UV filter on the glass. Plant pots are used to shield the wood.

Both have the same New Grey Q-Plus and primer. To the left the sample has 2 applications of Quartier Zero Magnum lacquer. To the right a regular Woca QP lacquer has been applied twice.

5 1/2 months on; 20th March 2025

After a glum winter and perhaps 2 weeks of spring sunshine there is noticeable bleaching of the sample with regular lacquer on the right. There is some affect on the UV-filtering Magnum sample.

This is the right hand sample that has on it a regular polyurethane lacquer without a UV-filter
